Drink milk from a Miracle Tree in Haryana!

 Jagadhri (Haryana), Sept 05: Wonders never cease to surface, and the superstition in commonfolk can never be comprehended.

 Believe it or not, people are flocking to a Margosa (Neem) tree in the Jagadhari   division of Yamunanagar District in Haryana for the last four days to drink a milk-like substance oozing from it.

Most believe that drinking the milk-like substance will cure them of their ailments.

"I had breathing problems, but after I drank it, I felt relieved and there has been a lot of difference since then. The taste is sweet," said Ramesh Kumar, a resident.

Scientists and rationalists, however, have rejected the authenticity of this phenomenon. They claim that plants or any other flora have a defense mechanism that results in the oozing of this milk-like substance.

"There is life in plants and animals and all living creatures have their own defense mechanism. Plants too have their defense mechanism. Insects try to enter inside the tree. When the insects try to make a house for themselves inside the tree, the defense mechanism starts working. As a result of the interaction between the tree and insects, the milk liquid comes out. Otherwise, there is no case of milk coming out of the tree," said Professor J S Sodhi, Head of Department, Botany, Gurunanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar.

"Neem is an important plant and can cure diseases of skin or stomach, but it cannot cure diseases like cancer or any other serious disease," added Sodhi.

As debate continues whether the whitish substance is a God's gift or a scientific reaction, the belief of people stands high above everything as Jagadhari continues to witness the rush for the "divine drink".
